ClearMotion and Porsche AG have signed a collaboration agreement to explore the future of vehicle dynamics through proactive chassis technology. The agreement brings together Porsche's expertise in high-performance chassis development with ClearMotion's software-defined approach to vehicle motion.

Advancing proactive chassis technology

The collaboration will focus on ClearMotion1, ClearMotion's high-bandwidth active suspension technology, and RoadMotion, its road surface fingerprinting software for proactive chassis control.

ClearMotion1 is designed to respond rapidly to changing road surfaces and reduce unwanted vehicle motion across a wide frequency range. RoadMotion complements the system by using road surface data to help vehicles anticipate conditions ahead, creating opportunities to further improve comfort, performance and control.

Together, the two technologies are intended to give a vehicle a more detailed understanding of the road and the ability to respond proactively rather than reactively. The collaboration will allow Porsche and ClearMotion to evaluate how these systems could contribute to the next generation of vehicle dynamics.

Alongside the collaboration agreement, Porsche and ClearMotion also signed a licence agreement covering the technologies involved.

Building a long-term collaboration

Porsche described vehicle motion as an important area in the continued development of the driving experience, while ClearMotion sees the agreement as an important step in its expansion into the European market.

The work will lay the groundwork for evaluating a closer long-term relationship between the two companies as they explore new approaches to chassis technology and the experience of drivers and passengers.
